PROJECT: Increasing diverse educational experiences for disadvantaged learners.
PROJECT AIMS: to encourage schools to look at increasing the breadth of alternative educational experiences to learners who attend Learning Support Centres or mainstream Support for Learning pupils. This work will build skills and allow learners to understand that their decisions affect the outcome of their participation, ie. if they do not allow a sail to be released in a timely fashion then they may suffer a capsize and get wet. Schools will be encouraged to commit to either single sessions or to a block of 11 sessions spread over 2 terms allowing learners to achieve NGB Awards.
East Fife Sports Council is delighted to support Newburgh Sailing Club with funding. After a commitment by the club’s members to support Youth Sailing, a decision was made to offer schools in NE Fife the opportunity for pupils to get involved in sailing. This grant allows the club to move its development forward and to provide a safe, effective environment for young people starting out in sailing. The EFSC committee are extremely happy to make this award, to such a inclusive project, and wish everyone the very best going forward.
The club stated, ‘East Fife Sports Council has provided Newburgh Sailing Club with the support and encouragement needed to move forward with confidence.’
