Falkland AFC

East Fife Sports Council is delighted to support Falkland AFC with funding after it was approached to
help the club secure funding to assist in its recovery after storms in early 2020 damaged the
clubhouse. With no income and fundraising possible during lockdown the club was not in a position
to repair the building but was planning how they could start again once lockdown eases. The funding
will be used to help with this and ensuring the club has what it needs to start up safely again and
continue its plans. The club hosts an amateur adult team, an over 35’s team and plans to develop a
junior team and an over 60’s walking football. The club also makes the site available for use by the
local community, and before lockdown it was regularly used to host festivals, functions and as
additional ground for exhibitions and parking, supporting other local groups and other sporting
visitors to the region. The club and community together wish to be able to make use of the venue
more, with a direct benefit offered to a variety of users, including elderly, young people, community
groups and support services. Planned upgrades to the facilities will help breakdown barriers, as well
as create opportunities, including tackling social isolation, physical health and cultural enjoyment.
The EFSC committee wish the club every success in getting back to its activities once C-19
restrictions ease and with its planned developments
